Avalanche descent Zillertal When we reached the summit, we decided to continue marching along the ridge towards Gerlos. After about 200m I wanted to look for a gully to ski down, when an approx. 3m x 5m cornice broke away below me, and I fell vertically into the approx. 45° steep slope below.
Luckily I was able to pull my ABS® backpack immediately and I floated on the cornice and the triggered avalanche 150m down the slope and lay on top when I stopped or was barely buried."
